Steve Warnick
stevewarnick@comcast.net
I have been a public school music teacher in the city of Lowell for
over twenty years. I have taught private music lessons for over twenty-five
years. In addition to having completed a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a
Master’s degree in education, I have undertaken many years of extensive study
in piano and composition in both the jazz and classical realms. Among my many
teachers, I was fortunate to have studied with a marvelous jazz pianist, Dave
Frank for about five years and then later with the great Charlie Banacos for
about three and a half years. Charlie not only took me to deeper levels of
understanding of the piano, jazz, ear training and composition, he also, by
example, helped me to become a better teacher.
A self taught guitarist, I have composed numerous pieces for guitar
designed to quickly acclimate students to the instrument and have also
organized numerous other means for a methodical, graded approach to the
fretboard.
During the school day I teach piano and guitar classes on a daily basis
which are comprised of twenty students or more on average. In the afternoons
I give private lessons in guitar and piano and also teach much smaller guitar
group lessons with only two or three students on average.
I have also played and continue to play piano professionally at weddings,
dance clubs, jazz clubs, outdoor concerts and various other venues.
