Taught by: Jack Shanahan and JoAnn Pipes
Prerequisite: Studying privately for at least a year.
Class Description: Each Rock n’ Roll ensemble will learn 5-6 songs in the
appropriate style under the direction of a professional instructor from Berklee
College of Music. The focus of the course is group playing and interaction with
the other instruments. Topics discussed will include: dynamics, history of rock
n’ roll, making the most out of practice time, building a band repertoire and
choosing the right equipment. All the goals will be achieved while maintaining
the most important aspects of playing in a band: having fun and meeting other
like-minded musicians. In addition, each student will be encouraged to stretch
their musical abilities in a setting other than private lessons..
