Summer Jazz Performance - Guitar Duets

Curt Shumate will examine the intricacy and history of guitar duets. They will discuss how to build up repertoire and vocabulary of one's playing. They will also touch on chord voicings, walking bass lines, chord scales, bebop scales, pentatonic, jazz lines and more!
This event will be 2 hours in duration

Curt is a 24 year veteran of the
Guitar Dept. at Berklee College Of Music. Curt first started teaching at
Berklee under the chairmanship of William Leavitt, since then he has seen the
program grow to be one of the biggest and best programs of its kind in the
world. Curt teaches private lessons, instrumental labs, improvisation classes,
ensembles as well as a lecture class on the developments of 20th century
guitarists.
In addition to his teaching, Curt is
an active performer throughout the New England area. Curt has performed with a
wide variety of Boston based jazz artists. His professional performances have
brought him from the theaters of Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods to Boston’s Colonial
Theater and The North Shore Music Theater. His professional theater experiences
